Abstract

Early Treatment: Less Is More?

by Fleming Padhraig

The merits of early treatment has been subject to vociferous debate within orthodontics. Early intervention may be appropriate if it produces complete early occlusal correction, averts problems (e.g., pathological root resorption) or simplifies a later definitive treatment phase. Prior to initiating early treatment, the associated burden and potential yield should be considered. A targeted approach in order to derive maximum value from early treatment will be presented.
