Abstract

Arch Lines Control with the Aligner System in Preadolescent Patients

by Revenaz Mercedes

Perimeter of the dental arches management through the system with aligners represents an ambitious and very useful goal in the orthodontic treatment of the growing patient. Planned orthodontic treatment strategies through selective dental movements with the technology supporting the aligner system can produce immediate effects on the perimeter lines of the arches, even in patients with mixed dentition. The optimization of the perimeter lines may also be desirable in the patient with mixed dentition in order to promote an ideal occlusion which leads to the harmonization of the growth and adaptation processes . The control of the perimeter lines through the systematic aligners in the patient in mixed dentition is carried out in a specific way by the clinician during the formulation of the treatment prescription, inserting useful information in the setting of the special planning instructions and carrying out an adequate revision with the 3D controls of the treatment plan required.

Learning Objectives

After this lecture, you will be able to recall that the arch perimeter was described by L.F. Andrews as an imaginary line describing the length of the occlusal-buccal part of the arch
After this lecture, you will be able to recognize how the perimeter line can undergo modifications indirectly based on factors related to the growth of the skeletal framework but also based on occlusal factors (inclination of incisors or leeway space) that can be influenced by orthodontic therapies.
After this lecture, you will be able to demonstrate that information on changing the inclination of the incisors and optimization of the leeway space can be included in the planning of the orthodontic treatment with aligners
