Abstract

A Tailored Elastomeric Device: the Oro-Maxillo-Facial Bio-Orthopedics

by Gianolio Alessandro

AIM OF THE WORK: The author in this work wants to highlight the importance of early orthodontic treatment which, with the help of digital technologies and the latest generation materials, aims to eliminate or significantly reduce the need for a phase 2 with orthodontic therapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Elastodontics, a successful functional orthodontic therapy of the last twenty years, has undergone an important evolution with the help of digitalization that has allowed to customize the planning, design and implementation of a high-performance device (UNIKO produced by GRUPPO DEXTRA) RESULTS: A series of emblematic cases of the performance achievable with the UNIKO device are presented. Thanks to the high fitting due to customization and the scrupulous digital workflow, allows a correct harmonization of the shape and function of the dental arches, following what has always been the myofunctional philosophy dictated by the fathers of modern orthodontics. CONCLUSIONS: The effectiveness, efficiency and use of light forces of the device, combined with ease of use and reduced collaboration by the small patient, have made UNIKO the choice of choice in the early treatment of myofunctional malocclusions.
